Typical game play involving several children now being impossible, I've tried to put together a list of movement-based games that can be played with family members.
Simon Says (or Follow the Leader) - Let kids lead!
Freeze Tag
Tunnel Tag
Tail Tag - One player has a hand towel or scarf hanging out of pocket as a "tail." All other players try to grab the "tail."
Musical Chairs (use pillows on floor to add difficulty)
Hands Hockey - In full or high plank (push up position) face an opponent a few feet away also in plank and try to toss soft object (rolled up socks, bean bags, cotton balls), between their arms as they try to do the same.
Float the Pond - Use the longest space available to you indoors (or outdoor). Each participant will have two paper plates. The object is to get from your chosen starting point to your chosen end point, while always keeping your feet on a plate. As you move, you may keep either two or one foot on a plate, while you move the other plate closer to the goal and step to it without your feet touching the ground. Simply, only touch the plates with your feet as you move to a destination.
Red light, Green light 1, 2, 3 - The point of the game is to be first to gently tag to the counter, being careful only to move when the counter is not looking. One person is the counter and has their back faced towards those who will approach from several yards away. As the counter is turned away, they say “red light green light 1, 2, 3” and then quickly turn around. Those who are approaching can only move when the counter is not looking, and need to stop immediately as he finishing saying "red light green light 1, 2, 3" and turns. If the counter sees anyone move, they have to take three steps back. First one to gently tag the counter will then take their turn to be counter.
Doggy, Doggy, Where’s your Bone? - Use a small object as the “bone.” One person (the doggy) will turn away from the group, all sitting criss-cross. One person in the group will hide the “bone” behind their back. When the “bone” is hidden, the group calls out “Doggy, doggy, where’s your bone?” The “doggy” then turns around and has to guess who has hidden the bone *no peeking*
Taps - Catch and throw (ball, rolled up socks, TP, bean bag) to a partner all while in the air.
Tug-of-War - Grab a towel and set your teams! Make sure to have ample space and be mindful of falling backwards.
