Music is a huge part in all our lives, whether or not we are actively aware of its importance. Take this extra time at home to share music you love with your child. Expose them to various varieties. Try some salsa or Latin music, punk rock (The Ramones are always a killer), hip hop (check for language), electronic, even folk or traditional music from around the world. You may be surprised how your child may react to a certain type. Explore different styles and tempos (try out a waltz) and encourage varying movements to match the varying music.

Songs

- Think of all the songs with “Twist” or “Shake” or “Jump” - there’s so many! Dance to these songs and perform the actions during the chorus or whenever stated in the song. Old school hip-hop classic "Jump" by Kris Kross will get anyones feet off the floor!

- Chicken dance

- Hokey Pokey

- Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

- Cupid Shuffle

- Shake it Off – Taylor Swift

- Shake My Sillies Out – Raffi (lots of other greats by Raffi)
